About Me and StraightForex
I’m Raul Lopez, trader & coach at StraightForex. I’ve been trading Forex for more than 10 years and this is my story:
How I became a trader
On my senior year on college (I majored in economics) there was this project on my financial class, our professor set up a demo account for each student, the one with better results at the end of the course would get 10 final points (of course, I blew out my account.)
I didn’t get my 10 points (and based on my performance, it would had been fair to take 10 points away from my final grade), but I got something bigger: I realized about the potential of the Forex market and I knew then that a trader was what I wanted to do for a living.
My first years as a trader
After I graduated from college I got involved on a few investing companies, then I quit and decided to try it on my own. I literally tried hundreds of technical indicators, robots, forecast tools such as Fibonacci, Elliot Waves and other tools but always got the same story:
As soon as I found a new tool, I got excited about it and put a lot of effort in it, tested it, tried to find the right parameters and at the end, they all ended up failing over and over again.
Happier days as a trader
After a few years of unsuccessful attempts to trade consistently, I started to see and trade the market in a different way, started to follow what the market is telling me, instead of trying to forecast what the market is going to do, I allowed it to show me the direction first, then I made my move.
This strategy coupled with good risk and trade management, position sizing and the right state of mind is what allows me to trade with consistent results.
Then I decided to create StraightForex (back in 2005) to help traders approach and trade the market this way.
